"Two people were injured in a crash involving one of the most iconic vehicles in television history, Missouri officials say.

The single-vehicle crash happened on Sunday, Feb. 26, in Taney County in southern Missouri. Crews with the Western Taney County Fire Protection District noticed a familiar car when they arrived — General Lee from the series “The Dukes of Hazzard.”

Officials did not say how the crash happened. Both people in the vehicle were taken to a hospital and their conditions are unknown.

In “The Dukes of Hazzard,” General Lee was driven by characters Bo Duke and Luke Duke. The General Lee that crashed was one of hundreds used in the show that aired from 1979 to 1985.

The fire department said more than 300 of the orange Dodge Chargers were made for the series and the 2005 movie. However, because many of them suffered damage during production, only 17 survived, according to CarsForSale.com.

One of the 17 surviving cars is at the Hollywood Star Cars Museum in Gatlinburg, Tennessee."

nobody else involved, wonder what went wrong? hope everybody is okay and heals up well.

Having seen the damage on tv, it looks like they were fooling around on a country road and lost it, sideswipping a tree with the left front, in front of the left front wheel.

Update:

'Dukes of Hazzard' car 'traveling too fast' crashes along Highway 165 on Sunday

Drivers along Historic Highway 165 on Sunday afternoon may have thought they were in Hazzard County, Georgia, for a moment. A "General Lee" car, made famous by the "Dukes of Hazzard" TV show, was involved in a single vehicle crash.
An initial post by the Western Taney County Fire Protection District, identified the car as one used in the 1980s TV show "The Dukes of Hazzard." However, the car's owner later informed the fire protection district that it was not used in the show, though all "Dukes of Hazzard" cast members had driven and signed it.

Hollister Police Department and Taney County Ambulance District responded to the scene along with the fire protection district.

According to Hollister Police Chief Preston Schmidt, no citations have been issued at this time.

"After an investigation on scene, it was determined the driver of the vehicle was traveling too fast for the road conditions and lost control of the vehicle he was operating," Schmidt said.

Two occupants were evaluated and transported to area hospitals "with what were described to (Schmidt) as moderate injuries." The driver was treated for a broken collarbone at Cox Branson, and the passenger was taken to Cox South for "reported leg and rib pain," Schmidt said. Both have been released from the hospital.

The Western Taney County Fire Protection District was told by the owner that the person driving at the time of the accident was not authorized to do so.

While the post says 309 "General Lee" cars were used in the television show, only a handful of those cars survived filming. The cars that weren't totaled in the show's stunts were relegated to a car graveyard, and in 1991, Warner Brothers sold 17 cars to private owners.

Saw a post about it on FB and the pictures showed a bunch of signatures under the hood and on the dash from original cast members. And it sounds like the occupants stole the car and were joy riding? At the very least "didn't have permission" so "stolen" is my interpretation.

Edit - I guess the link above shows the pictures of the autographs but doesn't mention that they are by cast members (that I saw).
