Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I've read good things about smith bros, but I'm not aware of any other manufacturers.

I didn't realize how much deflection stock pushrods allow until someone showed me a hands-on comparison (trying to bend them in a vice) between stock and 0.080" custom jobs.

So what are your experiences and opinions on the subject of pushrods?

How much valve spring pressure are you planning on running? That's the only thing that could bend pushrods.

My thinking was that people usually used custom pushrods because they needed custom lengths for their cam & lifter choices. These engines are likely to be highly modified, so stiffer pushrods make sense. But I doubt anyone needs stiffer pushrods for any kind of build using factory parts.

My 273 has custom-length pushrods because it has a hydraulic cam. But I certainly wasn't concerned about deflection.

Smith Bros are a good choice. Last set I had done was from Indy Cylinder Head.
either will need the type of rocker, ball&cup/ball&ball and ''correct'' length needed.
I was doing my first big block using Mopar Performance rockers that needed ball&ball hollow pushrods. I was such a green *** when I called Smith Bros, thinking I knew what I wanted till they asked the question "What length"? "For a 440", I said.. The guy said,"No,thats not how we do things around here.If you don't know how to measure and what to use than I can't help you.He went on to explain getting a adjustable checking push rod and how to use it.They sent me .080 wall, the length I asked for and all was good.

I believe they have instructions on how to measure on their website. Manton is another good company. My last one's came from them. Quick & very high quality. Can't ask for much more. Once you know the length, I'd check on Summit's website. You may be able to get a Comp pushrod close to what you need without paying cutom prices. Oh, don't go too big or you may need to clearance your heads.

Just bought a set from Smith Bros two weeks ago...very nice pushrods....

If you do not have a checking pushrod there is instruction on how to measure your length..

Depending on what changes you have made to your engine it makes a big difference in the push rods you need not only in the length but the diameter you need. I make my own push rods for the engines I build, but you can go with Summer Brothers, Hughes Engines, if it's a big block you can try 440 Source if you have the correct measurements and you can check with cam company that you got the other valve train components they may have a push rod that is close to the size you need but they can only get you in the range for what you need usually .050 to .100 in the length you need but it doesn't hurt to check

I just had a set made by Smith Brothers also.

Another vote for SmithBros. I have a set in the 340 in my Duster and another set going into the 318 for my EL5 GT. Top quality push rods, awesome service.
