I have looked all over the internet, and have found nothing. My cylinders heads are off a 318, with the casting number 4343646. I am trying to find out the cc size so I can calculate the CR. I know that they are a 1.7, 1.5 valve. But Combustion chamber is what I really need to find out. Any help much appreciated.

I wouldn't rely on whatever info you find out the internet anyways. All head castings varied WILDLY in the actual chamber size. Head's were rarely exactly what they should be from the factory. And that's assuming no work or anything done to them.

CC the heads, that's the only way to get a proper and accurate answer. And then you can go about cleaning/milling them so they are all the same size and you get your desired compression ratio.

Something is wrong??? I checked in my Mopar "Hot Rod" book which list just about every head casting from 1964-1992. There are no casting numbers that match the numbers that you posted. The closest numbers are 4343923 (86-89 360) and 4343475 (86-89 360). There is no 4343646 . The 4343 prefix doesn't even show up until 1986. The numbers I posted out of my book show 66-72.5 CCs but those casting numbers don't match what you posted.

Old forabodiesonly thread: 318 Heads, #4343646

I don't think the reference to 308 heads is relevant because 308's were 360 heads with bigger ports, but did have open chambers. 302 were closed chamber 318 heads.

Well after a quick internet search I found:

1985-89

318
5.2
3.91
V-8
Flat Tappets 4323330 4323345 4323345 4343646 3751841 3462387

You can see it here:
mopar casting numbers
Out of all the numbers listed above the 4323345 is the only one that shows up in my book. As such my book shows 66-72 CCs. Since these are all listed as interchangeable on the Mopar1 website then your heads should have the same CCs??? Doing a CC check for yourself is the only way to know what the actual CCs are. It's pretty easy if you can get a good size syringe or (like I got from my nurse friend) a syringe used to flush incisions. They probably have them a CVS or Walgreens or Walmart.

Sounds like the same chamber size as typical 360 heads, which is big compared to older 318 heads.

Thank you so much everyone. That helps give me a better idea. I could find that it's a 85-90 casting for 318, but CC was difficult to find. I went from these 318 heads to a 360 head with a 63cc and the slightly bigger valves. Sounds like I'll have a simliar cr with some more pull in the top end. Thank you
