1984 Dodge Ram, it has a 2wd cab, big lift, and a W250 chassis, from what I can determine.

Are both rear and front Dana 60s?
Dana 70s?

The rear has a cover with a rubber plug, and I want to order one with a threaded plug that is higher, seems low to me.

I checked Denny's, only one in stock is $225, ouch.

Anyone have a part# for a inexpensive cover?

You sure they ain't 44's? Somewhere on the web are measurements between bolt holes, etc

Can you weld?
Weld a bung on it where you want, and plate cover the hole for the rubber plug.
Just a guess from your pictures, but that looks like a 44 in front and a 60 in the back. Could also be a 61. Beware. More investigation is necessary. 4x4 shop near you?

You'll need to wire brush the dirt and rust off, but this tells how to ID Dana axles. In the 2nd diagram, notice #3. That's the model number. 60, 70, etc. that you're looking for.

I can weld, I like that idea.
There is nothing near me, need to get creative.

I was told a 44 in front and a 60 in the back, but all I could find are pictures.

I'll check for the #s asap.
I found something stamped under the cover.

I've found that sometimes, the numbers are on the FRONT side of the webbing and not the rear. That would be the REAR side of the front axle......so be sure to check both sides.

I take it the rear is a Dana 60, (60), and the front is a Dana 60, (60 F).

The rear is a full float, need to order axle seals, so I'll measure for those.

Apparently there are 2 different size axle tubes and corresponding axles, as there are 2 different size axle seals.

Yup. I think you figured it out. lol

Dana 60s can have 23, 30, and 35 spline axles stock, as well as 40 and 44 aftermarket. And they can have a couple (at least) thicknesses of axle tubes. The full floaters have the heavy stuff!
You'll have to find out exactly what you have, to get the right parts. ( a good bet is that you'll have 30 spline axles..... but 35s are also possible.)
