Wow,
That's Cool and thanks for posting.
I lived in So.Cal. from 78-2000 and it's where I got my first interest and exposure to drag racing, it's also where I learned my trade as a machinist and I went to work for a company in town called Summers Bros. yeah those guys the ones that set the land speed record with the Goldenrod. Well Bob Summers knew all these other manufacturers on a first name basis and when I bought and started building my first Mopar, a 69' Cuda w/440 I had a lot of needs and my boss Bob says just call any Manufacturer and drop my name, tell em you work here and Bob said to take care of you. Boy did they, I was getting parts for next to nothing from Hooker, Milodon, Isky, Moroso, ARP, Precision Products, B & B, TRW, Crower, Holley, Direct Connection and Super Shops. Well when I needed to prep my Motor and Heads he says let me give Dick a call, well Landy hooked me up too and when I brought him my 73 Police car 440 engine he essentially gave me a 69 440 engine and tells me it's a much stronger block, then when I asked for just the basic Cylinder head cleanup Dick says nah you work for Bob were gonna take care of you and do some Dick Landy magic on your heads.
They ported, polished, big valved and flowed my 906 heads for the price of a cheap valve job and that engine makes some serious HP.heck I may have some of the best 906 heads out there. By the way, still have that motor in that car and its still very strong, A 10:18 street car.
I know he's gone on but seeing this thread brought back memories of when I met this Legendary man and the fine way he treated me.
R.I.P. Dick Landy
