I just had to pass on a really good fresh 340 for $800 because I don't have that to spend.

What have you missed out on because you were broke? Or maybe not broke but just didn't have the money even for a great deal?

This list will be long.....

Worst loss-

1969 J code Hemi Roadrunner convertible (1 of 10).

Asking price- $750 in 1991.

Friend that looked at it with me (it was my idea) traded a 1977 W150 club cab 4x4 even.

2 weeks later a guy flew down from New York and paid my slightly less of a friend $10,000 cash for it.

Ouch. My dad has told me stories about all the hemi and big block cars that were sitting on used lots cheap in the 70s. Same deal, he just never had the dough.

It's always been that way though.......

A indian chief running project bike in the 80's for 4 k.

In the late 80's had to pass on a 64 Sport Fury ragtop 426 wedge 4spd car. Needed a windshield and the paint was faded. Guy wanted 1800 for it. I was 20 and had just brought home a 71 B'cuda ragtop 318 car a month prior for 1200. I was driving a 71 hardtop 318 B'cuda and new 88 Dakota i was paying for at the time. Dad just wouldn't front me any more cash.

A Wild Plum, 304 4 bbl, 4 speed '72 Javelin for $300. Pop and I just started the restoration shop and I put what was my life savings into the shop.

A '69 AMX, 390, auto, for $1500.

Pop and a mechanic at one of the trucking companies he worked for were going in on a package deal of a '57 392 powered Chrysler and a '67 Hemi powered Coronet for a grand. The guy wouldn't sell either individually. Took a couple of weeks for either to get around the $500 each to get the cars. The mechanic wanted the Chrysler, Pop was gonna get the Coronet. As they were driving to the guy's house to buy the cars, both of them were loaded on a rollback going to the other way.

A friend on another forum gave me first offer of refusal on a '71 Challenger convertible, A66 car. I had the money, but couldn't justify spending it on a car at the moment.

20 years ago 70 440-6 cuda mint and I mean mint 15000 it had a 383 in it but he had the original engine and 6 pak .

Just finished first year college and poor as crap just scraping by trying to learn. Stumbled on to a 1932 dodge pickup that needed a new motor. Otherwise in awesome shape. Selling for $1000.00
Didn't have two pennies to rub together.

early 80's, a 69 GTX for $300. I didn't have the money. This thing was bad ***. the back windows were full of drag strip class wins. Block was chained to frame. Looked stock but was built. I kick myself to this day but if you don't have the money you don't have the money. $300 in 1982 was a lot of money when you are only making $6 an hour.

1981 passed on a 68 427 4 speed corvette for 2,800

Around 1986 70 426 Hemi Cuda $6,000 had a cracked dash

1974 - old 50's hemi with 3 speed tranny sitting on a garage floor $100 working at the pizza shop making enough money to put gas in my 67 Barracuda

Also in 74 while working at pizza shop 1953 Chevy sedan delivery $35 old man had it and a 55 panel. Our manager at the pizza place had told use about it and even went with us to look at them. The other guy was interested in the panel and I liked the 53. But after a little discussion he said if you don't want them both get the hell off my property. Think he was wanting $50 for the panel......LOL think I could have swung the $35 but the other guy didn't have the $50 for the truck.
