Got the demon ready for paint B5 Not sure how its going to go. Havent sprayed single stage paint for some time. Also the compressor I got doesn't seam to want to keep up. Even with an HVLP gun. But have to get it done so I can get it sold.

yea the hood is going flat black w/ the demon side stripes in flat blackYou have one thing going for you, that is you don't have the hood on the car. Makes it a lot easier not having to keep that whole front end wet.
yea base coat is sooo much easier than acrylic enamelNot if enough clear coat.
Just make sure metallics are even.
Spray final base coat side to side. Up and down each panel and same pressure then your clearcoat is your savior.....sorry
Thought your talking base coat clear coat.
Or clear coat enamel.....yea base coat is sooo much easier than acrylic enamel
DEMON UPDATE Not happy with the way it turned out so im going to bite the bullet & get some base/clear. Ran the furnace at 75 all weekend. Went & got some base/ clear today. Sanded it with 400 today & laid a few coats of base. Ill clear it tonight or in the morning.
your right ive never left any job like that leave my garage. In the end it cost more to be cheep lesson learnedGood man. The new owner will appreciate the effort. And I'm sure you would have had some reservations about selling it with a sketchy paint job.
yesIs that PPG 2306 from 1971? Mine is getting painted soon and I see B5 for 70' is a different shade. I've been looking at different photos trying to decide on what shade of B5, 70' or 71'
I am soon approaching the time to paint my Duster. If I may ask what was your initial decision to go with the single stage? I will not be going with a metallic as I am going FJ5 with my car. I am still trying to decide what I should go with for paint brand and also if I should attempt to paint it at home. I know I am going to do my jambs, trunk and engine bay just not sure about the outside of the car. I have not painted a car since 2000 and it was base clear.
Cool, thanks!
Single stage is cheaper paint is like a lot of other things you get what you pay for. Not saying single stage paint is bad but if its metallic you are limited to what you can do with it.I am soon approaching the time to paint my Duster.
