Did Dick Landy really race with a Cigar hanging out his mouth

-
Yup, Mr. Landy always raced with the cigar but supposedly didn't smoke it and the 1/4 mile was the straight stretch in front of the stands as part of a road course, I'm guessing, hence the curved burnout area.

This is a question to see who was actually watching the whole video and who was reliving the good ol days while listening to the music. Remember that fueler that blew it's tire off, how many engines did it have. God I love the good ol days.

Yes he did, just never lit it. And I don't think it was a fueler, I think it was a top gas car Freight train I think. (still a cool car) Dave

Man great times! I used to go the the Pomona Fair Grounds when in HS in 77,78,79. Hung out with all these guys. My autoshop teacher was a great Ford guy, but sure loved to watch the big Dodges run! Got to spend the night and hang with these guys, listened to them talk and the such. I was a teenager with no idea how great these guys were at the time. Just great times, no computers etc. real racers and real men.

I can still hear on a summer night the cars running at Irwindale speedway from our back yard in the summer too.

GOD bless them all!

you bet! it`s nice to think back on those days and yet it`s sad to think, we can`t bring them back. my favorites were the nats @ york,pa. and atco, nj w/the altered wheel base cars and early pro stock (of course super stock) in the 60`s & 70`s

A great vision planted in my brain
Thank's again for the vidio.
