Disc brakes

Yes i posted in another thread but relized there a brake section...

So my question is to all of you at there what setups do you think are the best for all around disc brake conversion

Aero vs wilwood vs strange

and does a parking brake matter much to those who have disc brake setup with out parking break...

For a street car? OEM! (original equipment manufacturer), especially calipers.
The OEM stuff whether it's GM, Ford, Chrysler, or one of the imports is built to go the distance and do it reliably with shields and seals meant to be used the real world environment. Most cars manufactured in the last 10 to 15 years were built with four wheel discs. With aluminum 2, 4, and even 6 pistons calipers from the premium manufacturers in Australia and Italy matched to trash can lid sized rotors on their performance offerings, the OEMs have brakes available that are the equal of any virtually any aftermarket source.
Lots of little companies out there now adapting the OEM stuff to older cars, you just have to be willing to do the research. Study the subject deep enough and you could always design and manufacture the brackets and bits yourself.
Either way you can end up with brakes as good as it gets, and usually cheaper than the race bred aftermarket stuff.

I imagine a parking brake is a legal requirement in every U.S. state. If your car were to roll away and cause an accident, it might be investigated. The "park" position of the transmission cannot be relied on. My Newport's 727 used to slip (ratcheting sound) until I adjusted the park cable.

That said, parking brakes are not totally reliable either. Decades ago, I understand than many neglected cars sat on the steep San Francisco streets until their parking cable rusted and broke. Fortunately, the brakes were usually rusted shut by then too. Some became rolling missile down city streets. I think that is why they passed a law that you must turn your wheels when parking to avoid that.

I am too cheap to pay the >$600 after-market disk brake prices. I have a long-term plan to make my own front disk setup and have most of the parts. If I only had a CNC machine.

i make brackets for converting the ford mustang brakes to the 8 3/4 as a cheaper solution than the $600 deals
