Also, on 318 cars, the stripe was an option, so they would have had to code it on the order form. On 340 cars the stripes were standard and would have the V88 code for stripe delete such as my 340 4spd car does.

I say this because the build sheets have separate spots for body color and roof color.

Its not really a 340..its LL29G...and a 87 Roller cam 318, 904, 7.25 at that...but looks period correct and has a 340 TQ underneath and 340 exhaust manifolds and true duals....the rallys are original, and I have the original acorn center caps that came on it as well.

I dont know for sure, but figure my Dart Sport is 5th owner...due to the stack of paperwork and owners manual that was in the console and glove box.

It appears to have been rear ended and repaired very well....it is very solid except for a few small areas...and will get its turn under the knife and in the paint booth....AFTER my 360 Duster gets finished....its a Keeper.

ok thanks guys!!! so what would i look for on the feder tag to confirm? i know its not an original engine, but its a 72. also i should say that although i want to know and it would be cool to find out i do in fact have a rare car, ill probably keep it the candy orange that i painted it, but i could always put it back if i decide to sell.

Yes, the originator of this thread has a TRIPLE BLACK CAR Black ext., black int. & black vinyl top Back in the day it wasn't as common as the bright high impact colors, but it was popular to have a triple black car. I remember many triple black cars of the day.

What about a black painted top?

I think that the stripe does have something to do with it because every once in a wile, you will here about a factory four color car or more often a factory three color car and most the time they refer to the stripe. Why wouldn't the stripe count? It's part of the car and is a color.

As for the OP, look for the TX9 codes and look at the interior to see if it has X9 on it as well. If it has X9 in three different places, its a tripple black car.

The code v2x is a unique option where the car had the vinyl top trim but no vinyl top and they where mostly painted black.

i also agree with wildcat. i do not think you can consider a black exterior and black interior with regular black roof a triple black car!. it is just black on black car. now black interior,exterior AND WITH BLACK VYNAL top is triple black car
