.View attachment 1715242406 Doctor Diff has this 8 3/4 spool on their site for only $100 bucks. Anyone have any experience with these before I pull the trigger
.Ok thanks everyone. I guess I’ll buy it.
Crap to late....
Don't buy it to use with 3.55 or 3.23 gears on the street.

Well thanks for reminding me LOL yes my spool that I got from dr. Dif (Cass as we all know him) for my 8 3/4 almost went out the back side! I blew the caps and spit the ring gear against the housing and it looked like a spinal cord. I sold the small spool in fine condition along with the rest of the parts. I bought another spool from dr. Diff for my Dana that I currently have. It looks identical just a little bit bigger.j par your using a Dana.
4.86 drag car.

I have two engines. A 350 horse 400 low deck & a 420 horse 383. The 400 is ready. The 383 I bought from another racer & has a lot of passes so it needs freshening up. That why I ask because I didn’t want to blow the rear out on the first pass. Not sure what kinda power you want to put down but maybe with that car and the power you want to run a hundred dollar spool ain't a cost saving measure.
Maybe I should upgrade to stronger caps ?Like j par was saying you'll break the caps before you break that spool.
The stronger caps will help. But I ran a bunch of 10.49 in the 1/4 in my 3520 pound 73 big block dart with the stock caps.Maybe I should upgrade to stronger caps ?
Hey that's no fair! If you're going to take a shot at me at least quote me so I find out about it? LOLIt looks identical, just a little bit bigger...
That's what she said!
My car with me in it was about 3, 000 lb and I had Hoosier drag slicks and I got about 20 passes? Before the Caps blew off. 489 case brand new gears brand new bearings set up professionally. I was at about 11 5 to 11 7 in a 4-speed car though. The stronger caps will help. But I ran a bunch of 10.49 in the 1/4 in my 3520 pound 73 big block dart with the stock caps.
