We’ll likely never know........ but perhaps a chamber shape that wasn’t as conducive to low/mid-lift flow, and/or a 50* valve job might have helped to calm down the high lift turbulence.
(Although, steeper seats are usually better with more height at the SSR)
When it comes to marketing, killing off some low/mid-flow isn’t usually very popular.
