Dodge Dart Lite

Ice and snow in the DFW area today and tomorrow.
I don't know how you folks that live in areas where that is common exist.
It just takes the energy right out of me.
Snows not so bad but this getting dark before dinner time sucks the life out of me.

Spent some time on the car today.
One of the tires went flat, so I pulled and took it to the local tire shop.
While on a jack stand I spent some time under the drivers side.
I thought this was weird.
There is a 3 inch pipe from the head pipe to the cat inlet pipe..

This moves it back out of the floor cavity that I think it should sit in.
Which in turn causes it to hit the floor at the rear passenger floor well.
If you look at the second picture at the rear clamp, you see a dent in the floor.
I guess someone could have used a pry bar and made clearance.
Could someone have turned this around?
Can you run a cat reversed?
Or is this just some poor replacement part?

While not being familiar with State emission requirements, you could probably cut that contraption out so you don’t need to worry about any contact with the floor?

Older 2-stage cats are not necessarily direction specific. Newer 3-stage cats are.

My friend has an industrial hot water pressure washer he let me use.
I blasted as much as I could off from the underhood and transmission area.
Dislodged a ton of crap but it's still needing attention.
It did clean the shocks, I wonder how old Montgomery Ward Shocks are?

I have both fenders off now doing cleanup on the cowl sides.
All the sealant had broken loose and I did some rust treating.

I did scratch my head at this one.
The Lite did not come with a radio so the PO drove a big Philip head screwdriver through the A pillar.
To run an antenna cable.
I guess it didn't see the antenna cable plug 3 inches away.

Near sighted!!!

Have a hole similar in my 70 Duster. I was trying to figure out if it was blunt force trauma or someone touched off a firearm in there!!

Probably a stereo installer back in the day who was being paid by the job. They were responsible for some real hack jobs.

Got a lot of the front end sheetmetal put back on today.
Amazing how long it takes me to do what should be simple stuff.
Here are some detail shots.
Chrysler changed the way they hold the fender seals to one way rubber plugs on the 76.
Holes are still there for the staples so I used them on the 76 Fender.
( I meant to say 73-74 fender)
Front passenger fender cleaned up good.

Cut up the dented fender, great sheet metal to fix little bad spots on floor and battery area.

Now I have another wall hanger, could not send this to the scrapper.

I need one of these for the drivers side if you have one.

I got a lot of the ugly out of the passenger side quarter dent.
There is still a bunch of small ugly left, but it looks better.

But Bob, what paint was used on the beak?
I spent a lot of time sanding and made very little progress.
Beak (2).jpeg

So I used a putty knife and just popped it off. Paint pieces were all over the floor!

the car was white with a green interior. the lady I got the car from was the original owner and told the dealership she would buy the car if it was green. whatever paint they had in late 72 early 73. glad to see parts are getting used! BTW, I have a pair of Dart lite stickers for the fenders.
