Dodge Dart Lite

-
I put the bumper on today to see how it would look.
I have modified the energy absorbers to tuck the fit closer to the grill.
I think it looks good.

Got the Dart out into the daylight to blow the dirt out of the dash and cowl.
I did a walk around Video to show the progress or lack there of.
Paid for the door hinge repairs, been a minute since I sent them off.
Should be here next week and I can hang the doors back on.
Anyway more to come.

That does look good! Forgive me as I've not followed along very well, but are you retaining the slant 6?
Oh yea.
A few mods, but the original engine will live again.
60 over, head and block shave, big valves, Oregon Cam, 2 Barrel, big single exhaust.
Just enough to be fun, but not too radical.
Oh yea, going to hog out the stock exhaust manifold, ala Rusty.

Started welding some small patch panels in the passenger side floor board.
They are a little thin, but new floors are not in the plan for now.
I welded the passengers side door interior metal strip that holds the upper door frame plastic.
It was broke in half, how does that happen?

Welded the passengers side front seat back frame.
The seat lock pin was gone, looked like a poor factory weld.

I got all the seat stuff together to take to the upholstery shop.
That will be nice.

Still welding on floors.

I want to revisit the bumper bolt fiasco.
Unlike AMD who do not know what they are selling, VAN's Auto does.
I ordered B Body bumper bolts because my bumper square holes were right at 7/16.
Stock A Body stuff is 3/8 and if you have ever fought rusty bolts out of the bumper,
you can easily round the square holes out.
Look at the shoulder on these bolts!
Using a small file I fit these 7/16 shoulder bolts into my bumper.
Real happy with the bolts and Van's Auto Parts.

Engine getting ready to come out.
I measured all the exhaust stuff.
It was said years ago, that an '76 A31 car had a special exhaust manifold.
Not sure about that.
Exhaust head pipe, Yes, manifold, I think just standard slant six.

Welding on the passenger side floor pan.
I grounded the tungsten to my filler metal.
It LIT me up, went out my right elbow to the door frame.
Thank goodness I was using low current!

I've had nothing but good things with Vans. They're great.

I was helping a welder do some welding on a 63 Econoline I had. I was on the roof holding some metal in place and he was welding from underneath. My back was touching the metal frame of his shop and while he was welding I could feel a tingle on my back. I'm assuming the grounds were not great between his welder and the shop!

I guess I was not holding my palm on it perfectly flat as I was supposed to. All of a sudden it goes zap and some sparks shoot out the end of my fing :BangHead:  er!

Glad you are alive to talk about it Sparky Jr.!

The reason I bought my first Duster was because a friend of mine had a 1976 Feather Duster, slant 6, 3 speed manual with overdrive.
