Hello, I have a 1967 273 with 273/318 heads of the same year(casting # 2658920). I've been having a hell of a time finding a cast iron intake for the right price. I finally found one for a very decent price, but I looked around to decode the casting number and apparently it's a marine intake. The casting number for it is 2846346. I was wondering if there is any difference in this intake vs. an automotive one, and if it would work on my 273. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

carb mounting surface of marine intake is milled on a angle that more levels the carb in a marine application. Easily seen when viewed from the side. I suppose you could have it re-milled. I don't know if exactly parallel to mounting surface is correct for automotive application.

64,000 dollar question(s)........why do you want an iron intake? Is this for a restoration? What is the "right price"? You have 2 years to look thru, 66 and 67 for a 4 bbl, and any 2bbl 66 and newer, shouldn't be all that hard to find, nor should it be expensive. Over $150.00 you're being raped.

$375 on e bay is rediculous. Someone on here should have one. Did you start a wanted ad?

I want an iron intake because I want my engine built back to somewhat original, and they hold heat better than aluminum. The "right price" for me is between 100-150. This marine intake is for sale for $50. I need a four barrel intake. I've called multiple people around my area looking for one and looked on Craigslist with no luck. All I can find is 1965 two and four barrels. I finally resorted to looking online and found this one. The other day I bought a Weiand aluminum intake from a guy for $20. I'm not gonna use it because some of the holes don't line up, it doesn't have coil mounting holes, and there is no room to mount the throttle cable bracket. I used to run a Torker 340, but it has holes in it and leaks terribly, which is why I took it off.

Ok, that answers the "who", "what", "where", "when". It ought not be all that hard to find a 66-67 4bbl intake; the only real demand for them is restorations, otherwise they are getting yanked off and replaced with aluminum.

Have you checked with member "whitepunkonnitro", he may have one, or could lead you to someone who does.

Good luck!

majority of "stuff" on CL and Feebay is totally stupidly priced> just spend $100 on FABO etc..... and get the right application, easy for me to spend YOUR $$$ !! give her heck!

I've got a complete 67 Commando engine here but... I would need most of a day and a helper to pull and box that 4 brl. intake. 3 hours in just getting a wrench on it. Then the shipping weight ( cast iron pig ) is right at 50 pounds. From 29642 to you on top of my effort and paying the grandson/helper...
It'll get close to 200.00
The same intake in a better ( door stop like ) situation might come from a parts wanted ad. Good luck
