IT CANNOT BE EXPLAINED BETTER THAN THIS!

Read this story about: "Don't Close Your Blinds!"

The other day, my nine year old son wanted to know why we were at war. My husband looked at our son and then looked at me. My husband and I were in the Army during the Gulf War and we would be honored to serve and defend our Country again today. I knew that my husband would give him a good explanation.

My husband thought for a few minutes and then told my son to go stand in our front living room window. He told him: "Son, stand there and tell me what you see?"

"I see trees and cars and our neighbor's houses." he replied.

"OK, now I want you to pretend that our house and our yard is the United States of America and you are President Bush."

Our son giggled and said "OK."

"Now son, I want you to look out the window and pretend that every house and yard on this block is a different country" my husband said.

"OK Dad, I'm pretending."

"Now I want you to stand there and look out the window and see that man come out of his house with his wife and he has her by the hair and is hitting her. You see her bleeding and crying. He hits her in the face, he throws her on the ground, then he starts to kick her to death. Their children run out and are afraid to stop him, they are crying, they are watching this but do nothing because they are kids and afraid of their father. You see all of this son.... what do you do?"

"Dad?"

"What do you do son?"

"I call the police, Dad."

"OK. Pretend that the police are the United Nations and they take your call, listen to what you know and saw but they refuse to help. What do you do then son?"

"Dad, but the police are supposed to help!" My son starts to whine.

"They don't want to son, because they say that it is not their place or your place to get involved and that you should stay out of it," my husband says.

"But Dad...he killed her!!" my son exclaims.

"I know he did...but the police tell you to stay out of it. Now I want you to look out that window and pretend you see our neighbor who you're pretending is Saddam turn around and do the same thing to his children."

"Daddy...he kills them?"

"Yes son, he does. What do you do?"

"Well, if the police don't want to help, I will go and ask my next door neighbor to help me stop him." our son says.

"Son, our next door neighbor sees what is happening and refuses to get involved as well He refuses to open the door and help you stop him," my husband says.

"But Dad, I NEED help!!! I can't stop him by myself!!"

"WHAT DO YOU DO SON?" Our son starts to cry.

"OK, no one wants to help you, the man across the street saw you ask for help and saw that no one would help you stop him. He stands taller and puffs out his chest. Guess what he does next son?" "What Daddy?"

"He walks across the street to the old ladies house and breaks down her door and drags her out, steals all her stuff and sets her house on fire and then...he kills her. He turns around and sees you standing in he window and laughs at you. WHAT DO YOU DO?"

"Daddy..."

"WHAT DO YOU DO?"

Our son is crying and he looks down and he whispers, "I close the blinds, Daddy."

My husband looks at our son with tears in his eyes and asks him... "Why?"

"Because Daddy.....the police are supposed to help..people who needs it....and they won't help....You always say that neighbors are supposed to HELP neighbors, but they won't help either...they won't help me stop him...I'm afraid....I can't do it by myself ..Daddy....I can't look out my window and just watch him do all these terrible things and...and.....do nothing...so....I'm just going to close the blinds...so I can't see what he's doing........and I'm going to pretend that it is not happening."

I start to cry.

My husband looks at our nine year old son standing in the window, looking pitiful and ashamed at his answers to my husbands questions and he tells him...."Son"

"Yes, Daddy."

"Open the blinds because that man.... he's at your front door..."WHAT DO YOU DO?"

My son looks at his father, anger and defiance in his eyes. He balls up his tiny fists and looks his father square in the eyes, without hesitation he says: "I DEFEND MY FAMILY DAD!! I'M NOT GONNA LET HIM HURT MOMMY OR MY SISTER, DAD!!! I'M GONNA FIGHT HIM, DAD, I'M GONNA FIGHT HIM!!!!!"

I see a tear roll down my husband's cheek and he grabs my son to his chest and hugs him tight, and cries..."It's too late to fight him, he's too strong and he's already at YOUR front door son.....you should have stopped him BEFORE he killed his wife You have to do what's right, even if you have to do it alone, before.....it's too late." my husband whispers.

THAT scenario I just gave you is WHY we are at war with Iraq. When good men stand by and let evil happen is the greatest EVIL of all. Our President is doing what is right. We, as a free nation, must understand that this war is a war of humanity. WE must remove evil men from power so that we can continue to live in a free world where we are not afraid to look out our window. So that my nine year old son won't grow up in a world where he feels that if he just "closes" that blinds the atrocities in the world won't affect him. "YOU MUST NEVER BE AFRAID TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT! EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO DO IT ALONE!"

BE PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!
BE PROUD OF OUR TROOPS!!
BE PROUD OF OUR PRESIDENT
SUPPORT THEM!!!
SUPPORT AMERICA!!
SO THAT IN THE FUTURE OUR CHILDREN WILL NEVER HAVE TO CLOSE THEIR BLINDS...."
:thumrigh:

WOW!!!! That sent chills up and down my spine. I'm proud to be an American, and proud of our President. We are proving that we as Americans are leaders of the Free World. I am also proud to have been a part of Operation Enduring Freedom, what we as Americans through are military did is free oppressed people from an dictator. Here is a little rant. I am sick and tired of the tv, newspaper media, Michael Moore etc. showing the President as a dictator; and our soldiers as occupiers instead of liberators. One thing I forgot to say in my rant is any media that gives Arafat a Nobel Peace Prize, I know media didn't give it to him, and try to honor his death is a news organization I could care less to watch or listen to. Arafat was a terroist, and if that is to harsh he was a dictator, just makes one less person to kill in the war against terror. Thank God the President was re-elected and we don't have to worry about our safety as much. To all the movie stars and people in the media and whoever else that wants to leave our country, because President Bush was re-elected I say don't let the door hit you in the a@#$ on the way out. BTW I have worked with the UN before most worthless group of people I have ever met. Wouldn't trust a single one with my life, because they run from everything. Plus the UN is a corrupt organization. As BillyBBad said GOD BLESS AMERICA

So what's wrong with being EVIL? :geek:

Thats one of the best I've read so far. I participated in Desert Storm ( the first Gulf War for the young people :D ) and would have gone back again if I was still in the service. Bush may not be perfect but at least he won't just stand by while our enemies build up their arsenal to use against us.

what a joke..... i guess that guy has the weapons of mass destruction in his basement too... all that crap can be spun to see what you want to see... i'm sure there are pleanty of stories to spin it 180 degrees the other way.... while i agree that saddam was a bad guy and something should have been done about him he isn't the one that behind the attack on the U.S.

.

We did not go after Saddam because he did or didn't have anything to do with the 911 attacks, We went after him because he would not comply with the UN agreement that ended the first gulf war.

wow i feel the exact same why DONT CLOSE THE BLINDS :salut: :notworth: i dont get how so many kids at my school think we shouldnt be over there and i ask so after 9/11 we should have just sat back let them build up there weapons and attack AGAIN! they have no reason behind there opinions they just say the war is bad, well ya nobody likes war but we got to do what we got to do :thumblef: :headbang:

i'd hope anyone watching Micheal Moore movies or listening to
movie stars, understand they are getting thier information from a source that is
designed and packaged to insite emotion. they sell product, and
the best way to get you to buy is to get you emotionally involved.
thats why you cry or take away a good or bad feeling from a movie.
actors are product, if they do thier job right they invoke feelings.
they are always [ on ] it sells and they make money.

as far as the war goes, it was the right thing to do then
and still is. short term it is rough, history i believe will prove it was
and is the right thing to do.
even if you don't believe, its still a fact that the war is going on, our
troops need support. U.S.A is not the only country involve, canada,
england, japan, spain and more all have troops there. they all agreed
it is right.

Longarm, are you telling us that Michael Moore and all the movie stars
get thier info from FOX NEWS and Rush Limbaugh ???

what i know is, you should look around you,
make up your own mind and not take for granted
what is fed to you by media is always correct.
our system of government works well if you participate.
you are free to disagree or agree without fear of retribution.
some countries do not have that option.
usually media gives you far right or far left opinions, rarely is
it unbiased. its up to you to interprete or seek out the truth.
sometime its just easier to listen to some one you admire and
take up their cause. with age comes wisdom and knowledge and
the ability to sift through the chatter to get to the kernel of truth.
i believe our president and country to be honorable.
i believe no country or person is perfect but i will defend thier right
to their opinion.
i also believe the liberties we enjoy here in this country should be
enjoyed by all people,everywhere.
sometimes to protect the future we have to act now.
that is the premise the declaration of independence was written on,they wrote it
with the knowledge it was the right for the country , but they
might forfit their lives by signing it. it also started a war.
today in looking back over history, we see that a decision made
by men with honorable intentions, and backed by the people has
produced a great and good nation. i did not say perfect, just the best
the world has ever known to this point.

No, this is what happens when the USA puts a mad man in charge of a weak country, such as Iraq. our leaders are the ones who cut deals with this guy in the past & were the first to shake his hand. our leaders knew what kind of guy he is, remember Desert Storm. just because his generals surrendered that didn't mean that he did. this problem could have been taken care of in 1991! i don't like to get into what makes an American an American, every body these days seem to have different ideas about that. everybody supports our troops, we may not support our decision makers. but you know what, thats why we are AMERICANS! we have the right to voice our opinions. now lets get back to talking about our hot rods!

Spain left

thank you mike,
i included spain in that list on purpose.
i wanted to see if i was fishing a dry hole.
although i would like to continue this discussion,
i agree this is not the proper forum to do so.
discussing politics can become very intense and
i love a good debate.
it is very easy for a discussion to become sidetracked and
bogged down with side issues.
i can see you are a very articulate and passionate person
as am i.
logic and passion controlled is very powerful.
its like driving your car to its extreme limits: logic
and still knowing you can get more by making it better: passion
you notice you could interchange the last words of the above lines,
i just described two very different people, by a small word change.
both still love cars, but see them from different perspectives.
words are very slippery, sometimes you have to look very hard to
find meaning and intent. truth!
if you know of a forum that allows such topics and is
more appropriate, please let me know, i'd like to speak
with you more.
respectfully, longarm

there is nothing wrong about agreeing to disagree, good debate will always stir the pot. alot of times we are not that far apart. if we are really open minded we can learn from each other!
