Door issue

Good afternoon Mopar People, I have a 64 Valiant wagon that I'm having an issue with, it's hard to open when the door is closed tight; I have replaced the door lock mechanism & the door striker latch with NOS parts; the door release button will not open the door. It will work on the first latch but not it is completely closed, have to open it with the inside handle.
Is there any adjustments that I can make to make it open? There is a little play in the hinges not much, door closes tight with no problem. Hinge replacement?

No, it closes fine.

Sounds like the outer latch mechanism is worn and not pushing the linkage rod far enough.

I replaced it with a NOS piece & still hard to push the button in.

Check the linkage. Sometimes lifting up on the handle will open it from the outside
