I bought 2 new door jamb switches (originals missing). I installed them, but the are approx 1/4” too long. Do they make shorter ones? Is it possible to shorten these? How?

Thanks

Yea you have to set that.

Here is a pic of my original door switch and the one I set to the correct distance. You can see I matched the 1/4 on the top door switch.

Ya, your new one should push in to be the correct length. They come long and need to be pushed in to fit. Some guys just put some tape on the door and smoothly close the door and it self adjusts.

Never thought of that Grimreaper. Just went out and took this pic for you. I used a 3/8's deep socket in a vise and just wind until you get the correct distance. I does work the interior light perfectly.

used the vice / socket method. shortened them up no problems. thanks for the tip! as far as closing the door on them to adjust....I just didn't "feel" right! My luck, I would have bent the switch over or punched a hole in the side of the door! lol
