Bolts to the back of the head and to the Heater motor and or firewall. Stole this pic of Dana's 67 Dart.

The first picture the car was never touched and is original AC car. The second picture is a non AC. The ground goes from the heater blower motor nut to the back of the head and also has one going from the same nut to the wiper motor.

The brown car has a non factory bare ground strap hanging for the engine it should be coated like the wiper motor ground. Many don't install the wiper motor ground and have problems with the wipers.

This is the way all the 70-72 cars were that I stripped over the years. The nut used on the heater blower varied but always one of the inside nuts were used

Yes, it is needed as the negative terminal from the battery is connected to the front of the engine block and this strap completes the circuit to the body.

Also, use a star washer between the terminal and the body.

This style washer is designed to cut into the paint and reach bare metal to establish a proper ground.

Do you mean a post car as in a Coupe? Or is it a Hardtop car?

I seen on eBay up to 68 or 69 ground to firewall wire, that's why I wonder if 72 had it, Mines just had the Batt. ground with ground wire to radiator bolt for over 20 year, but when I hooked the Batt. up it seem a little funny, my left blinker would not blink and right one blinks slow, I charged the batt. with a small charger that said full charge on it, but I will try my bigger one that puts out more amps when I get time!.. All was working fine back spring before summer when engine was pulled to put a cam and new cam bearings in!
