Hi all here is a dual point distributor. Needs a good cleanup. Shaft turns freely with no slop. Tag reads 3438225.

Thanks

My book says that number is for a 318 2bbl. I'd say the tag is off another distributor.

Whats it for pray tell?

Small Block

Yes I pulled it from sb. 273 car but not sure what the engine currently was other than sb

My book says that number is for a 318 2bbl. I'd say the tag is off another distributor.

I pulled tag and no numbers underneath. Weird why someone would change the tag to a 2bbl. Body is magnetic so cast body then right? When did they change to aluminum body? Doesnt appear to be messed with other than tag possibly being switched??

I would peel it apart and go through it if you are going to run it.

Thanks all
Steve

The rotor looks like a Ford rotor. I wonder if it's a Autolite. The Prestolites are cast iron and smooth. It looks like a aluminum single point housing with the waffle casting.

You know what? That's the craziest distributor I have ever seen. I just gotta have it. PM sent.

Here's a '71 for comparison..............

Dual point Mallery dist. were part of the Formula S package in 1966. It may have also been used other years. Not use if the shown is the Mallery.

I noticed today when I spin it that it sometimes "catches". I.don't think its a huge issues but I would recommend going thru it.

Thanks
Steve

Just to clarify, the HP 273 dual points were cast iron housing units made by Prestolite. The correct numbers for 1966 were Model # IBB-4013a Part #2642242 and replacement
#IBS-4013AB and #2642461 for non CAP (Clean Air Package {California Emissions})
The CAP part numbers were #IBB-4013B #2642358 and replacement numbers #IBBS-4013BB and #2642405. tmm
