How are the lifters oiled on a slant six? I don't see any oiling holes in the lifter bores. Am I blind? am I not looking in the right place? I admit, I haven't looked CLOSE yet like with a mirror or magnifying glass. Thank you drive through.
Solid lifter slants, have splash oiling on the lifter base, and just, for lake of a better word, drip oiling of the lifter bore.
Hydraulic lifter slants, have the lifters lubed, through hollow pushrods, rocker arms, and rocker shaft.
Then I need hollow ball and cup pushrods. That's what I thought I was lookin at at the oiling diagram for the slant. Thank you.
There is no oil gallery to or through the lifter bores on any slanty, there is only drain-back oiling and the oil running out of the pushrod cups and down the side of said pushrods to the lifters on mech valvetrain, holes up the middle won't really help since the adjuster balls aren't hollow. I doubt much will get thru there.Ok, so on the hydraulic slants, the lifters oil "backwards" from top through the pushrods and into the lifters, correct? Then I need hollow ball and cup pushrods. That's what I thought I was lookin at at the oiling diagram for the slant. Thank you.

OK, still runnin' with those Buick rockers?I plan to run hollow adjusters.

Did you retire? What's o'Reilly gonna do without you?I'm not sure. It will be one or the other. The Buick rockers are going to require a LOT of labor intensive drilling. I have a lot of time, though.

Well, congrats! I hope everything works out for you!Yeah, it was kinda a dirty deal. It was going to get ugly for me if I didn't back away so I did. I was planning on finishing out the year and then calling it done, but I am glad it happened now, because my feet are so much better. My hard headed butt would have kept pushing until I had to have surgery probably.
Well, congrats! I hope everything works out for you!
I worked auto parts counters many years ago.
I can retire from the IBEW in 3 years and I think I'm gonna work part time at autozone when I do. So I'm kinda doing the opposite of you.
I here ya pal! My best times are when my company has nothing for me to do and I have to take off a few days. The guys I work with crack up because they know I've got retirement figured to the day: 3 years, 2 months, and 19 days to be exact!Thank you. It will! I just kinda hated it because this was the first job I ever really loved. It's ok though. I am having a good time bumming around the house.
Just think about all the time you have now to work on your car stuff !
Rusty do you think that the 170 will serve you better for your driving than the 225 would, everything else being the same?Exactly! lol
