Most people believe that Pink Floyd only made 2 albums ( 1973's "Dark Side..." and 1979's "The Wall" ) , and that's a shame .
Here's an early effort by The Pink Floyd Sound , as written and composed by the late , great Richard Wright .
Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett was gone by the time this was performed , but he was there in spirit

As much as I love Pink Floyd music, it takes a history major with a record setting IQ to follow all the "ins and outs" of who was "there" or not over the years.

So far's I'm concerned, if you don't like the Floyd, you don't like music.

I like the early Floyd stuff, although, if I had the choice, I would listen to "Dark Side of the Moon." Here's an interview with Clapton in '67. He talks about Pink Floyd around 2:40 for a few seconds and says he likes them "now," but doesn't think he'll like them for very long. Maybe he was referencing their soon-to-change sound?

Check out Ginger Baker in the interview too. He looks like he's feeling pretty good.

When I was younger and into the cabbage, many brain cells were fried while listening to early Floyd like this....

good thing we did'nt have youtube at the time as the video is a bit of a buzzkill.

the monoaural mix of "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" ( 05-AUG-1967 ) was re-reissued a few years ago ; I 'highly' recommend it !
The only track which *suffers* -- and only a marginal amount -- from the mono mix is "Interstellar Overdrive" , as the panning is ostensibly missing .

I really like Cream a lot , especially 1968's Wheels of Fire .
There was an almost consensus back in '67 that Pink Floyd was *compromising* their sound , and especially after their 1st album was released ( as named above ) .
They were the house band at the U.F.O. Club in London , and would play long , improvised instrumentals , with Syd trying all kinds of bizaar stuff on his Fender Telecaster ( with its mirrors on its body ! ) .

Having not lived through the Mod / Psychedelic / Blue Eye Blues / Northern Soul 60's the first time around , I cannot give an honest assessment of Pink Floyd's '65-'66 sounds vs their late '66 - early '67 sounds . But , suffice it to say , I do enjoy lots of the music / styles / sounds / artwork / cars from that time , albeit in a vicarious sense :farao:.
