I thought I'd heard, read someplace or talked to someone that the mounting for the early vs the later PS boxes was slightly different. Maybe it was the size of the bolts - just not sure. The only difference I'm completely aware of is the early boxes used 5/8th's return lines where the later used smaller (11/32nds). Can anybody shed some light on this?

Did a little more research and found out that it's the size of the mounting bolts. Early boxes (and the K Frames) took 7/16 in bolts while the 67 - up boxes and K Frames took 1/2 in bolts. Nice info to have!

The P/S box were mounted with one pin and nut and two bolts. The pin was silver cad and the bolts and nut were black phosphated!

Not only that but the pitman shaft is smaller on the early boxes.
The '72 and earlier A,B, and E bodies used the small pitman shaft. The '65-up C-body, '71-up van, and the '73-up all models used the large pitman shaft. The pickups were the only real oddball. The return line diameter changed from the large to the small in '67. You can just change the fitting to interchange them. Some models have a different control valve and fittings but they can be swapped also.
