Pretty good I for here for a simple electric fuel pump set up using a relay, proper wiring gauge and an oil pressure switch.

Nothing elaborate here but decent rule thumb stuff.

I did mine slightly differently by using a resettable inertia switch inline on the power side in case of a collision that will shut down my pump even if the engine is still running.

My power comes from a toggle switch then to a relay.

Good idea on the inertia switch. How did you do yours? I am familiar with what they are and do but have never actually seen one or how they're setup.

It just runs inline on the hot wire to the fuel pump.

If you are in a collision it kills power to the pump.

If it trips for any reason you's just push a reset button which I've never had to do.
I mounted mine near my fuel pump and it's weather proof.

The reason I installed it is because I heard a few stories of bad wrecks keeping the fuel pumps running....one guy burned to death after he got rear ended entering a car show.
He was knocked unconscious and the car caught fire and he burned to death.

This is the one I got.

Find any 85-88 ford ranger in a bone yard and pull the same type switch off the front pass floorboard area. Most newer vehicles with electric pumps have them.

I had one in my old truck trigger going over a hill pretty quick. PIA... LOL

If your car launches real good, I've had them trigger.

That one says 10-12 g's. Not sure if it's exactly the same.

I agree it's a good idea! You can put it in line with the power to the fuel pump or between the oil pressure switch and relay. Will perform the same basic function.

There was a pretty near disasterous crash some time ago with a hot Firebird. The story goes the first part of the crash knocked the driver silly, and when he woke up the mag kill switch did not work Eric Petersen is the driver

With my pending EFI conversion thoughts, I've debating putting a motorcycle tip-over switch in line with my fuel pump or ignition system. I've seen several rollovers that would've been rebuildable (or at least with salvageable motors) were it not for a engine run upside-down too long.

You can easily incorporate the oil switch, the crash switch, and (hidden) antitheft, all in the same relay control for the pump

Ok I'm convinced! I don't want to burn alive.
