I made a block off plate for an EGR opening on a 340 intake, it leaked Exhaust all over the intake manifold.
This is Hi-Rise Intake from a 71-72 Duster. I cannot find a part number for the Gasket, so I made a gasket from a sheet of Cometic C15180, specs say it is good to 1200 Degrees F.
I think it leaked from both sides of the Gasket.
Should there be a sealant on that surface?
Is 1/8" Thick enough for the Block Off plate?

What intake? There was no exterior EGR valve on the 71 340.

Casting number 3512100
the image below is what I have. I was told it came from a 71 Duster 340 and was called a Hi-Rise Intake.
Please correct me if I am wrong. any other info about it may help me in the future.

That's the choke well and not a EGR passage.

See you guys are great at educating the challenged!!
Thank you for info.
I did make a Block off plate and after less than 100 miles I had Exhaust Blackness all around the block off plate.
I would be appreciative for advice on revising the block off plate I made or Gasket material.

It also helps heat the carburetor during cold temperature for better fuel atomization for better drive ability.

With the correct info provided from here I have it on order.
Thank you, guys, for the guidance.
