I have a 1973 Dart Swinger that won't shut off when the ignition switch is turned off. I installed a new ignition starter switch, starter relay switch and because I had steering colume apart I also replaced the turn signal switch and it still won't shut off. Electrical problems tear me up! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since the hardware is all new and the ignition is still hot when key is out it means something may be wrong with the wiring. You may have a short in your harness that came about due to an overload condition in the past. Unplug your ignition switch, peel back the black wrap and see if you can look at the wires down the harness a bit. Look for brittle wires and see that each wire is free and not melted together or skinned/cut.

Wiring diagrams at http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=28

Will help you trace the wires that can be responsible for the run on.

Without being there to see myself thats all I can offer.

I'm sure you will get more responses soon.

Good luck.

What do you mean by "ignition starter switch". You talking about the ignition switch in the column?

In addition to the diagrams posted above, which are somewhat simplified, you can also download a free 73 shop manual, here

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?p=1970088617

or at the MyMopar site posted above. There are two sections, body, and "everything else"

Try separating the ignition switch connector under the column and see if this kills the engine. Has anything been hacked into and or added?
