You can get away with less duration while keeping the average flow similar, quicker ramps, higher lifts, more .200"+ duration for similar or less 0.050" and definitely less advertised etc..
 
Stock motorhome 440, torker intake and a 509 cam. Just add boost. A $500 turbo from vs and a blow through carb from CSU. Ask @Turbo440Dart what his made.

Technically it made 493. But also the laundry list of issues, biggest is losing control of the valves at 4700. Hard to make a number if you can’t rev the damn thing.

The little bit I got on the new motor on half the boost it’s WAY meaner.

so theoretically it may make 500

I bought the 440 Source Stealth heads and the 500 Stroker kit balanced. I make around 560 HP. You're looking at around $5000. You still have Cam, intake , Carb, Ignition and machine shop and more to consider. I could see you spending 10K when done.

440 stock rods and .030 over 2355 pistons. Home ported 915 heads with 2.14 1.81 valves. 10.3 comp. Comp cams 306 .555 solid cam. 262 at .050 and a 110 Lsa. Has ran 10.90 in a 3500lb. Car. M1 intake and 850 dp. Cast crank been bracket raced for 10 years. Only machine work is the boring of the cylinders.
