Engine rattle on fresh start up

-
The cam and lifters were new when I installed them in 2007.

That describes it exactly, just a momentary clatter that clears up immediately after starting. It never rattles any other time.

I don't think that I mentioned being "worried", just curious to learn if others have had a similar situation.
I have 3 other hydraulic cam Mopar V8s in cars out back that start up and are as silent as new. Even the 383 in Jigsaw, an engine I rebuilt using a Mopar Performance 280/474 cam. That dude just starts and rumbles.
I'm heading out back to tinker. I'll report my findings....
If that's the case, it probably has light preload on a few and they sound off a tad till they get full pressure. Probably a non issue.

Thanks everyone. I wasn’t worried, just curious. My 2007 truck will rattle upon start up if I’m low on oil. With 414,000 miles, it goes through a bit.

I agree about which oil. Back in the 80's if you used Citco oil your engine it would make lifter noise. My dad was a mechanic back then and found people often having this issue.

Rattle…..GONE.
Fresh oil and filter and on today’s cold start, silent and smooth.
This filter looks similar to the new NAPA filters so I doubt it really is 10-15 years old.

I have some new/old Castrol that has never been opened despite being quite old.

This oil is SF rated….

This is from back when zinc was still in decent numbers.

Fresh oil and filter made the difference here. Score!
While under there, I spotted a couple core plugs ready to spew.
Plenty to do here!
That was my “ go to “ oil back in the day. Lovednit!
