I have decided to put the engine/transmission in as a unit instead of separately into my Duster. Does anyone have some advise on doing this? WOuld it be necessary to undo the steering box etc?

I'll be doing the opposite in just a little bit. Thats how I always do it... Just drop the exhast and maybe the starter ...Hook up the hoist so it tilts back and good luck...

the easiest way to do it, if you have the tools, is to unhook the k-member and put it on a dolly. Roll the new drivetrain under the car that's been hoisted up. Then lower the car over the drivetrain.

We had to take out the power steering box to put my small block in, it is easier to put the tranny and the motor in as a whole and it saves time, but one of the hardest things to do though is stick the headers on that was hard.

anyone ever disconnect the drive shaft, ball joints, brake lines, etc, and then raise the car on a lift, and just roll the whole front end, tires and all, out from under it ?? Is that even doable ??

Is it doable? That's how Chrysler assembled the car on the production line.

All you need to disconnect are brake lines, upper control arm pivots, upper shock mounts, steering coupler, torsion bars, k-member and rear crossmember bolts. Plus the standard hoses, wires, linkages to remove engine/trans.

Take a floor jack and put it under the car. As you lower the trans/engine place the floor jack under the trans and then when you roll it back it won't drag on the ground.

The engine tilters are very handy. I put the 383/727 combo in my duster by myself rather easily, I think. tilter really helped.

Take off your bottom pulley. If you do not you will hit on top of the radiator support.I never disconnet or remove the steering box. Then do what 340SFastback said to do.
Anymore I put them in from the bottom up.
Good Luck
