1970 Dart 2900lb race weight.

440 .030 over, decked .020. Trw 12:1 Pistons. Eddy rpm 84cc heads decked .020. Crane 255 @ 50 with .570 lift (this is the lift figured with 1.6 440 source aluminum rockers). TCI 3500 stall, 727 w/ reverse manual valve body. 4.88 gear. 31x13 slick. Coil over ladder bar. 1050 dominator on alcohol w/ 2" spacer adapter plate. Drag car only.

Would love to hear some predictions!

6.40's in the 1/8..

I agree with D and it may run well into the .30s. My pump gas 408 ran 6.57 at 3260#, the op is
2900# with more gear and inches too. The converter and cam lift may hold it back some though. My $.02.

6.30 to .40s . You are 400 lbs lighter, little more cam and better heads then me. We have been 6.81 @ 100 in 1/8

If it only goes a 6.80 or 6.90 beat it into the ground with a sledge hammer. Like rick said 6.30 or 6.40 all day long at 2900lbs. My buddy's street small block Nova pump gas roller motor went 6.72 at 3600 race weight. He took his 17 year old son in the car hence the high weight. That was on a 275 drag radial thru the mufflers.

My D50 has gone 6.21 @ 110 at 2950 with pump gas small block driven to the track on drag radials with leaf springs. That is the reason I think you should run at least 6.40 with a big block in a lighter car.

I hope too. It's hard for me to believe those ol slug Pistons would go 6.40s
4.88 gear! Wow any 440 would not like that much ratio! However, 6.20's with that much gear should be easy. The quarter mile will suffer! 4.10's will be best with this combo! I run my 67 Cuda 440/4.10's/727 and it runs 6.80's @ 100 thru the mufflers. And 10.80's @ 124 in the quarter. [Drag radials & 3" exhaust with tail pipes which exit just behind the rear tires. Like the GM cars!

4.88's are fine with a 31" tall tire. Literally the same as a 4.30 with a 27.5" tire

It'll be weezing in the 1/4. Should be fine for 1/8 mile.

watched a steel '69 dart with cast head 440 (stock stroke), 850 holley and 3.55's go 10.50's. I'd be careful on over gearing the 440 in a light car.... just my 2 cents

Hey,lets take it easy. No talk of hammers. If it goes 7.20 and gets home in one piece, thats a good outing. All the e.t.s quoted, how many were first time out? If you can put a car together and have it running within 2/10 of its best possible, first time out, well my hats off to ya. A pro could but a hobbyist? Besides if it was that easy what fun would it be?

well my mates 3150lb dart, 440, 12.7CR, JE dome pistons, .590 DC cam, 1050 Dom, Victor int., Eddy heads, milled to 78cc ([email protected]), 5000verter, 4.56 geared 31x13's, SS springs car which hooked good ran 10.1's@131 = 590flyhp with 1.39>1.41 60's...shifted at 6400 trapped at 6750 if that helps any, would think you'd be a bit off that....10.30>50's?
