Favorite Drummer

-
Got to go with the Professer just because he's a tech wizard but John Bonhom was and always will be my hero.

Here are some of my favorites among many other great drummers:
Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater
Scott Rockenfield of Queensryche
Charlie Benante of Anthrax
Chris Quirarte of Redemption

Nobody mentioned Don Brewer from the "American Band"? Yes Grand Funk's drummer. All these mid-west people on this board and you're all forgetting about the band who sold out Shea stadium quicker than the beatles.

Peart is a god, YES. and also a big yes to the fact that he owes it mostly to hard work and buddy rich. However in keeping with my "do it different, do it Mopar" way of life, I lean towards the more obscure, underrated drummers.

Paice is awesome (HUGE Purple fan here as well).

Clive Bunker is badass (come on, no Tull fans here?)

watch his left hand on the intro of the drums, people.

Stevie Wonder on the skins. This is just raw talent.

Palmer from ELP. What a nice guy to auction off his high-zoot kit for charity.

And for you younger kids, listen to Derek Roddy from Hate Eternal. No i dont like death metal (cookie-monster lyrics), but this guy puts stuff on UTube that shows his technique. I really respect a talented guy like him who's willing to show you how to do it.

NEIL (not Neal) Peart, Omar Hakim, Mike Portnoy, Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl to name a few. Almost forgot Stewart Copeland.

Of course, my votes in for Buddy Rich ... and Animal.

Growing up my favorite was Stewart Copeland, I have to agree on Neil Peart he is the best drummer ever! But I just loved the sound of the Police. Still listen to them today, great music.

Charlie Benante- Anthrax
John Stanier- Helmet
Dave Lombardo- Slayer
Bill Ward- Black Sabbath
Tim "Herb" Alexander- Primus
John Bonham- Led Zeppelin
Chris Adler- Lamb of God

Shannon Larkin, played drums for godsmack... sully erna is a lot better than I expected too considering all he did was sing in the band. But he got his start in music on the drums.

Anyway, shannon larkin... the man is influenced by a muppet! He's the thinner guy by the way

You forgot Neil .Rush"s supernatural pounder.

No not really. I'm Not a big Rush fan so I took that into account and I actually have to be a big fan of the music for the drummers to be on my favorites list. Rush....meh.

I understand where you are coming from, In my opinion Peart is the best technical drummer (besides Rush) on the planet. I understand about being into the band though. I'm a rabid Rush fan so my opinion is biased a bit.
