Finally got an old pickup truck!

My beater with a heater, and now I know why it takes so long to warm up the cab (Tooljunkie), and some spares just in case.

As awesome as it is, the real kicker is the early model 1972 360 truck block. The camper special brakes are usually different than the standard brakes. The best fix is to find a set of spindles and caliper mounts from a 72-93 D200-D350 with discs and upgrade to the D or W 350 large tank master cylinder. The control arms are all interchangeable except the heavy duty trucks have larger ball joints.

That's my plan, hopefully it warms up around here by Saturday so I can hit the junkyard. It has mostly 80s-90s-early 2000s stuff but I always see at least a couple older Dodge trucks every time I go. Lots of B-vans too.

I was wondering about it being an early truck 360 as well, that would be awesome if it has the thick cylinder walls. It's definitely never been apart as far as I can tell and was maintained well.

Also curious, this truck has true dual exhaust routed side-by-side down the passenger side; is this a factory-type setup or did someone upgrade it at some point?

I still got quite a few parts left over from the 72 2-wheel drive apart it out last year so if you're needing something make sure you say something...

That's the best place to find thick cylinder 360 blocks. Being it's a camper special and almost emissions exempt, it's maybe possible the factory could have installed dual system. I've also had trucks with left side fuel tanks that had been likewise converted from single to dual. All the ones I have seen came stock with a Y pipe single system.

They all had tank in cab, Ford stopped in I think 77ish. Fumes with today's gas would be my concern. Nice truck, have fun finding all the "Farmer Fixes", I swear its a old truck right of passage to have something poorly rigged.

I had two Ford pickups over the years. The '69 F250 I traded for had two tanks and two filler necks, one tank behind the seat and one under the bed.
The '77 F250 extra cab that replaced the '69 also had two tanks and two filler necks. Both tanks were under the bed and both fuel doors were on the driver side of the bed side, one toward the front and one toward the rear of the bed. That truck got me through the mid-70s fuel rationing since it had commercial plates and I didn't have to do the even/odd day gas fillups. I always kept the front tank full and only drove the truck on the rear tank. I used the front tank to siphon out of for either of the other cars we had at the time.

I'm look'n at CL everyday..... and hoping....

I actually found mine on FB marketplace, it's gotten really big with this kind of stuff.

Regarding a tune-up the ignition still uses breaker points, I was hoping to see the electronic ign. unit but noope. I'm thinking of putting a PerTronix module and coil in it? Of course along with new cap, rotor, plugs, wires. This thing is really stock aside from the exhaust, but in really good shape it never even made a lifter tick when I first got it started. I'm curious about the power (and everything else) I want to drive it so badly.

I'm not on FB, and when I tried you had to have an "app" to see it?

One of the few reasons I'm still on it lol. I don't know about the app thing aside from using the FB app on my phone, I was able to browse ads on a desktop computer as well...

Nice score. Ya get rid of the in cab tank. My 78 had one. My 79 and 80 didn't. Your saddle tanks is probably 28 gal.
I have a 73 that my dad bought new. Also get rid of that crappy Holley 2-bbl and install a good 4-bbl. You'll have some more power and a couple more mpg.

I was curious about that too, carb seems to be in decent shape but I'll put a small 4-bbl (prob Carter/Edelbrock) on it if it's better.

If your area is anything like my area, you’d be doing yourself a BIG favor my getting on FB. I still check CL from time to time but it’s gone down hill big time for vehicles and car parts. Everyone’s switching to marketplace. You can also search specific areas much easier on marketplace as well.
