took my 1969 dart out this weekend to old time Drags. 340 4 speed, best time
of 14.02 . Man was that fun. 5500 rpm launch running skinny m/t drag radials.
i'm hooked will go out and do that again.

Congrats on your new addiction, better get a second job to afford all the upgrades you will be wanting, it never ends but it sure is fun.

nice! i remember my first pass 15.0, slow..but i had a blast! 5500rpm launches? that thing staying hooked?! can you post up the whole time slip?

yeah i was surprised but it hooked really well . Not the best r/t .what can i say i'm a rookie. r/t- .596, 60ft- 2.041, 330- 5.834, 1/8- 9.0, 76.48mph,
1000ft- 11.72, 1/4- 14.02 98mph.

Thumbs up 69340, thats what they built them for! Have fun! I'll bet some drag radials will put that car in the 13's, no sweat.

Nice,thats a mid 13 ride with traction ect.,the 60's ideally would be a couple tenths better-not a bad mph!.

thanks for the support all. Any ideas on improvements . I know i am going to put in a centerforce clutch. Right now i am running a hays street/strip clutch
it's murder trying to hold that clutch in at the line, also had some issues with my clutch rods as i didn't catch 3rd gear very well on every run. Also ran out of track for 4th gear as i am runnig 323 gears. Anybody running 411 gear? maybe that would be a good idea. please throw in your two bits.

Old time drags....Were you at Ashcroft on the weekend????.

IF you had as much fun as you're implying...you're hooked for life!!!!.

I'm from Duncan, and a few guys from here went up to race.

411 maybe a little too much of a jump for what you`ve got there. If you don`t build your engine then I wouldn`t raise the gear ratio too much. A 3.55 or 3.73 would be a good choice. Your car sounds like it`s right where it should be for it`s build (it`s a stocker isn`t it?) and with you being a novice at the track. I`m certain your car will go 13.80`s with nothing but practice. I had a stock 68 340 A/T with a 3:55 that would run 13.80`s consistently. It is very addicting when you get the chance to run the cars wide open under measured and controlled circumstances. Congratulations on your new found love! :toothy10:

my old man bought a 1970 340 4 speed swinger brand new in 1970 he literaly took it home swap a set of 456's in place of the 355's it came with, which with an 8 3/4 you can switch the third member out in less then an hour and go racing, but anyways he did this put a set off headmen headers on and ran 12.8 at 108 all day long with with 4000 rpm launches

340, 4 speed , basically stock build with manifold, carb and headers.

I run 3.91 with a 25" tall tire and it legs out the 1/4 no problem. Like running 4.56's with a 28" tire IIRC.

Car runs 101-102mph.

Happy for ya! If your going to get addicted to something...you picked the right one. My son (in pic) at 16 got into it until he moved away. He talks about it all the time. Be safe and Good luck in your future runs.

Congrats to you and all you others that use these rides for what they were intended. Lifes' way too short to save them (from what?) for the next owner.
