I’m in on the red meat. My wife went carnivore almost a year ago and has lost well over 100 lbs.
That happens infrequently after wife had her gall bladder removed. Chicken and broccoli are the favorites.
I lost weight simply by cutting back on the portion size and reducing my bread intake
Bread, especially sourdough is my favorite. Cookies, also, unfortunately.

My understanding of belly fat, the kind called Visceral Fat, which is fat glued to the organs, cannot be dieted off. Instead, you have to go into a fatburning deficit, where the body has no choice but to go after the fat that your organs are hording.
This means fasting and exercising, together.
Sixteen hours of fasting should bring your body to that threshold, if there is no other available fat for the body to pirate. So, if you're say 240 pounds, on a 180 frame, yur gunna have to get down to where the visceral fat is the last of it.
At 200 on a 180 or so frame, I daily fast from supper to supper, so say 23 hours of fasting. It's called the One-meal-a-day fast, and it works pretty good except by 2 in the afternoon I could eat an elephant; and I can't always make it, lol; but, that only sets me back just the one day, and, 2PM is afterall, 19 hours, so it's not a deal breaker as long as I don't pig-out at supper.
It's working but, I have a lot of "set-backs" lol.

I cannot attest to the veracity of what I just posted except about my results;

If you have health issues, you should probably run it by your doctor first.

Yes! ^^^ The OMAD diet has been fantastic. I went from 175 to 160. Initially doing it sucks, feels like you're gunna die, worse than quitting coffee. It's just the weakness leaving your body.

More money for car parts to boot

Ben & Jerry's ice cream and Tate's cookies...if they vanished I could be 170 again

This is just partial information and won’t amount to a hill of beans if you still eat a lot of carbs.
The idea behind, and accessory to it, is a low carb diet. To take advantage of these foods you need to be fat adapted. Think carnivore or keto diet. They are the same in regards to cutting the carbs. When your body recognizes there aren’t any carbohydrates to use as fuel it turns to the fat for energy. It needs to adapt to prioritizing fat as a source of energy. One cookie will destroy a whole days worth of eating fats as a fuel source. That means if you’re on carnivore , no BBQ sauce!
You have to be strict but the results are fast and amazing. There are other health benefits to this as well like cancer prevention, dementia prevention, ……. Our choice of diet can trigger inflammation and wreak havoc.

Fasting, as mentioned, pairs well with fat adapted diets. When you’re body uses carbohydrates as fuel it wants it CRAVES carbs. When you kick the carb habit you will be more at peace with fasting because your body uses STORED fat as fuel and you feel like skipping meals for a day isn’t killing you.
Your first 24 hour fast is hard, the second one is dramatically easier, and the third is no sweat at all. I have got up to 72 hours.
There are several methods. Intermittent fasting is usually considered at least 12-14 hours and skipping breakfast or dinner is what that looks like. There is also the 8:16 time restricted diet. Give yourself 8 hours in a 24 hour period to eat (healthy fats). Then as mentioned, OMAD. There are half dozen or more methods, really.
One key benefit of 24 hour to multi-day fasting is getting your body into a state of Autophagy. DNA and cellular repair. Your body has the power, created by God, to repair itself and overcome demons within our flesh.

If anyone wants more info pm me. I have been researching and working in this field for about two years. I have many resources and protocols that fit many lifestyles and health conditions.

After I lost my two Shih Tzus last year, I was really sad. I quit trying to eat healthy(er). Family makes it difficult. My wife wants what she wants and it isn't health food. I worked a lot at my parents house the last several years. Mom always thinks I need something to eat. While I was there, she would cook or drag out leftovers and cake or pie. She is a good cook but again, maybe not the healthiest for me. She moved in with us last July.

I had a heart episode in February... afib for short. Couple nights in the hospital. Multiple follow up appointments.

May 1st, the heart doctor wanted to put me on a statin. I did not take them. I have heard nothing but bad about them. Ok. Time to get serious about my diet. I can do this.

I looked up foods to lower cholesterol quickly. Oatmeal, apples, walnuts for good cholesterol were listed first. That is what I eat every morning. Avacado and beans were also on the list so I eat a salad with avacado, black beans, and a few spoonfuls of salsa for dressing.

In March, my doctor said I need to start a low dose thyroid med. Every morning, I take it with water only for this first hour. Then I take a low dose heart med and eat my oatmeal.

Got my fasting bloodwork done July 2nd. My cholesterol dropped from 234 to 171 in two months. My TSH went from too high to too low so I think I may not need the thyroid med.

I read that too much caffeine could trigger afib so I cut out the coffee along with milk.

A side effect of this is I have lost 30 lbs so far... 186 to 156. Arthritis quite bothering me. Reflux is gone. Big win for me.

You have to be careful with fasting, especially if you do it often and for long periods of time as it can cause diabetes, I'm a type 2 and I've been to the classes, talked to different doctor's and researched it. And actually skipping meals is not good either as you'll most likely over eat to make up for the meal you skip. The best thing is to cut back on your portion sizes, exercise, cut down on sweets, don't eat 2 hours before bedtime and the one that most won't like is to either cut back on or stop all together is drinking beer, beer is very fattening. Losing weight is a lifestyle change.

Adding fruits and vegetables helps with weight loss. Drinking less soda, sweet tea, sugar intake is not our friend. Baked potatoes turn into carbs. When people have a salad they load it up with good food and then pour on the dressing, dressing is fattening

Fasting can certainly help reduce insulin resistance. See links below:

Current evidence suggests that intermittent fasting is an effective non-medicinal treatment option for type 2 diabetes.

If I go long periods of time without eating, I get the shakes, sweating, this is from my sugar level dropping due to no food intake. The above may help others.

Get fat adapted. Change your diet to eliminate carbs so your body subsists on stored fat.
Always seek advice from a nutritionist. I would skip talking to your doctor about it if he/she is not fit and healthy. Many primary care doctors are ill equipped to give nutritional advice.

As an aside, it is common practice to cut out all processed foods and seed oils. One of the best things anyone could do is stop drinking calories; water, coffee, tea. Cut out soda, sweet tea, OJ, and for God’s sake never drink energy drinks!

I’ll sign off this topic with one more thing to say, look up Barbara O’Neill for a complete source of all things health related.
