Front Band Adjuster

Have you guys ever had transmission fluid weep out from the kickdown band adjuster? How did you remedy it? Thread sealer on the adjuster? nylon washer on the locknut?

I had that happen one time. Teflon tape, yellow, gas resistant. I found that that area had a hairline crack, but the tape stopped it.

pipe dope. Or yellow tape.

I see it quite often. Anytime I rebuild a trans I put good quality pipe dope (not the runny stuff NAPA sells) on the adjuster threads.

I've never seen one leak there either. I would have thought it's too high up. Ima guessing 2 or 3 inches above the liquid line. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I should have mentioned I've never seen one leak bad. They just seep enough to to make a little mess. A lot of guys wouldn't even worry about it but I'm picky

I assume oil splash hits it and weeps through the threads

Pretty hard, I imagine, for oil to get up there, considering the band is shrouding it.But I suppose oil could get sloshed up there on a hard left turn
