Front panel colour

I am restoring a 67 dart gt and would like to know if the front panel came painted black from the factory? as my dart is still in its original paint and the front panel is black, but when stripping the paint off i can see the body colour underneath it, so i am not sure if its original or not. The black paint was applied after the body basic color was applied. Not all colors got the blackout treatment. I believe only the lighter colors got it. Black, dark browns, etc didnt get the blackout.

My dart had the blackout, and it was original paint in that area.

Thanks, my dart is dark copper, so i guess i don't need the blackout :thumbup:

If your car was in original paint and it was blacked out, blacked out would be more correct than not.

Seeing body color behind a grille looks bad.

I think i will just do it body colour to start with and then if i'm not happy with it later on i will sand it and spray it black.
