Fuel Filter Location

Does it make a difference whether the fuel filter is installed before the fuel pump or after it?

If you use a filter before a pump it needs to be VERY low restriction, and not just a generic "inline" filter. Note that most modern filters on EFI systems are AFTER the low pressure pump in the tank, typically, so they are not exactly "before the pump."

Because the suction side of the pump is at such low pressure, it is far more unforgiving to pressure drop than the outlet side of the pump.
