I have noticed with my Valiant and my old Aspen that when you are getting gas that the pumps won't kick out. Why is this and can it be fixed?

My Demon is the opposite. I have to have the nozzle almost completely out of the filler opening or it kicks out constantly only letting a few liters in at a time.

I think it's somewhat hit or miss. I remember seeing a guy with a brand new dodge truck that poured at least 10 litres out of the filler because the pump didn't kick and he wasn't paying attention.

Had this problem with my '66 Valiant until I started putting the nozzle in upside down. It's a bit of a pain using my thumb to squeeze the handle, but at least it pumps, cuts off, and doesn't spill gas all over the side of the car.

Well THERE'S your problem. The tanks understand GALLONS.....not LITRES:toothy10:

Doesn't that have something to do with a little air "backpressure" building up in the filler tube?

Must have something to do with the vent and air flow............

Mine shuts off. But only after it spits gas down the side of my car. I think I will give that up side down thing a try too.
