What should the ohm reading be for the gas, oil, and temp gauges on a rallye dash. I have the dash itself out and I am testing the under dash harness alone.

Been a lot on this.............

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=179517

And Dave has come up with an experimental programmable corrector, and it turns out someone actually SELLS one..........

Actually, someone already produces a similar product. I'll re-rerrrrr reeee find it.........

EDIT

..............Found it!!!!

Someone had posted it on this board, but I don't remember where or who...........

Sounds very very similar to what Dave came up with

The gauges themselves should be around 20ohm +/- 1 max. This does not take in consideration the fuel voltage limiter only the input/output at the pins. You can also if gauges removed from the assy inspect inside w/flashlight and verify windings nichrome wires insulation is still in good shape and not fried.

Testing the under dash harness alone. every sender should show something. Fuel sender will show between 80 and 10 ohms depending on how much fuel is onboard.
Oil and Temp senders with engine off and cold. 80 to 90 ohms.
Best to test at senders terminal to senders outer body first, then test for nearly same readings under dash.
Gray wire is oil , purple wire is temp, dark blue no tracer is fuel.

Agreed, not solely. I was only trying to expound on what you had written, but if they are outside of that tolerance they are fried (common w/rallye)and wont read at all, which I thought he was also asking.

I would not go by this. This does not mean they will READ correct in operation

The ohm ranges for most all factory Mopar gauges are 10 ohms at high, 73 to 75 ohms at low and around 22 ohms at the middle range. If your pointers are sitting way below the first hash mark when the car is not powered on then your gauges are more then likely burnt and need replacement or repair. We have found that the best sending units available for Mopar gas tanks are the ones from Kramer Auto Specialties http://www.kramerauto.com/ they are made in Mexico not China. The best oil psi and water temp senders are from Napa Auto Parts and are the Echlin brand. Give me a call at (661) 259-8891 if you have any gauge questions, we specialize in the restoration and customization of all Mopar instrument panels and offer the highest quality work and competitive prices.

Thanks,

Shannon

All I get on that site in SEVERAL categories for 67-76 A bodies is

"No products are currently available in this category."

There are many MANY folks on here that would love to have a good source for fuel senders

I would suggest that you give them a call at (724) 285-5566

Type in "sending unit" in their search feature. There they are.
