In agreement, here. Love, Holley intakes. Can buy them used for a song, and they work. A and RB Mopars, Chev small & rat engines. Always an consistent product.

A-Body,

Correct on the Holley 'Street Dominator'.

An under-rated Intake. A much better performer than the 'original' Edelbrock Torker 340.

A Medium-Riser with a low-profile design

Same Carburetor-Pad height {5.25"} as the 'original' Torker 340, but the 'Street Dominator'
has both 'curved' and smoother Runner-Ports, as well as a better designed Plenum area.

A-Body,

Remember these.

The weiand stealth has fuel distribution issues that that the LD340 does not appear to have.

Good intake, hate the lack of coil mounting pads on the stealth.

Edelbrock #LD-4B

Can the LD-4B work well on the 340 or 360.

Absolutely, and {untouched} it is a better Intake on the 340 or 360 than the Edelbrock Performer #2176.

#LD-4B > Port Dimensions ............ 1.05" x 1.95"

With a little grinding {Gasket/Port Matching}, these units are an excellent performer on the Street with
a 340 or 360, especially in Low-End Torque and Mid-Range Horsepower.

* 340/360 Gasket Size ..... 1.16" x 2.27"
* 273/318 Gasket Size...... 1.05" x 2.07"

Note; Back-in-the-Day, we developed a 'tapered' Intake Manifold Gasket for Mopar, to provide for a
better {aligned} seal when using an #LD-4B with 340 Cylinder Heads so you wouldn't have to grind
out any material.

We still have the formed template plate, which is 1/16" {0.65"} in thickness.

Cheeto, For You

Cheeto,

How bad was the 'original' Edelbrock Torker-340 Intake Manifold ?

So bad, that 'Direct Connection' didn't even offer it in their 1975 catalog.

As well, as 'For 340's Only', as they only recommended the Edelbrock #LD-340
Dual-Plane Intake for Street Performance, and for the Drag Strip with Automatics.

Ed Hamburger pulled the Torker-340 off his 'SS/IA' 1970 Duster 340, and went back
to the Edelbrock #LD-340 dual-plane.

The Carter AVS {625 CFM} Carburetor 'loves' the Edelbrock #LD-340

Weiand X-Celerator #7510-X

Introduced in 1975, and developed by Phil Weiand and Warren Brownfield of Air-Flow Research.

Came out to compete against the Edelbrock 'Torker 340'.

The 7510-X {was/is} a better designed and more researched intake than the original 'Torker 340'.

The 7510-X had a larger and unobstructed plenum area, as well as curved runner-ports for improved
low-end torque.

Yes, that's good that this intake will run well on a 340, but it is actually made for a 273/318 with the 66 and later heads. When my oldest son bought his 71 Valiant with a 318, it came with dual exhaust, a Edelbrock Performer, and a Holley carb.

We removed the Performer intake and installed a LD4B and Edelbrock carb. It still had the stock 318 cam. It ran much better with the LD4B. No bog off the line and nice pull. The LD4B is a great intake for a 273/318 with stock internals and dual exhaust and even with a little bigger cam. This is my manifold of choice to run on a street 273/318.

I just wanted to make the point that this is a great intake for the 273/318, as you only mentioned that it "could run good on a 340" also. A 340/360 should get the LD340, and the 273/318 get the LD4B.

Krazy-Kuda,

Yes,

I should have explained the Edelbrock #LD-4B Manifold application better.

It was originally designed for the 'Lil' 273 back in 1966. Then complimented
the 318 'LA Engine' in 1968.

Designed for the 273/318 with smaller port Cylinder Heads. But, is a nice
functional Intake for the 'general performance' 340 or 360.

The runners are reversed, the LD4B doesn't have the "notch" in the plenum divider, and the LD4B doesn't have mounting bosses for the coil.

We should also talk about the D4B also. It is supposed to be the same as the LD4B except for the early 64-65 intake bolt holes....
