took me a little over a year, on and off, being busy working, and moving, and house renovations, but she drives again. built the motor myself in the garage (my first slant6, but not my first motor). its a 225 bored .060 over, cam is a oregon cam grind #125. its a mild cam, reverse split style. wanted to keep the car fairly stock, just want a cruiser. set the compression to 7.75. had the head milled, and exhaust seats installed. factory electronic conversion. it drives great, other then a flat spot off idle i cannot seem to work out smooth, regardless what i try.
i also picked up a set of stock 14's, used some acrylic enamel semi gloss on them, and wrapped them in some coopers. i think it came out very nice. i missed this car quite a bit.

anyways here she is!

Great looking ride. I bet she turns some heads when you go by. Congrats on a great job.

it came out great! just have to get the bugs worked out and you'll be golden...

just curious... why did you set the comp so low? besides the hp/tq gain it would increase mpg and drivability... 9:1 is all im thinkin...

Because I wasn't going to spend more money on something I had already done. And this block had a lot more deck then the original block I was using, which ended up being not good enough to my standards.

gotcha! sometimes what your delt is what you got! i think they make the 225 charger sticker so you could redo your air cleaner if you like...

Gorgeous!
That 65 has some super straight sheet metal. I'd love to see more pics. What's the interior like? The color looks about the same as mine. Congrats on a nice Valiant.

It's got some rust bottom of quarter panels underneath windshield little in trunk. There is dings and paint flaking off revealing original color, which is about the same as the repaint job, only less yellow. Interior is on crappy side. No headliner seats need to be redun carpet is tore up. But is livable. Next step is brakes and suspension.

Much faster than me. Rust issues and repainting are what really slow me down. Looks like you started with a straight SoCal car, so much easier. If the rust isn't rust-thrus, you have no big problems.

O my goodness :happy2::happy2: Congratulations
I bet it does feel good to finely enjoy some cruising time.
Looks great, You dun an A grade job on your early A kielbasavw=D> :thumbrig:
