I have noticed this on Craigslist, Ebay, and Fabo, so it can't be a typo. I am just wondering...

Why is it if you have a car and you live south of the boarder your advertisment may start like this...

I have a car I have to sale...

but north of the boarder it would sound like this...

I have a car I have to sell...

I just don't understand the sale part. It sounds like bad english to me...and trust me I have bad english already!

because some posts have gotten hot tempered lately, I am not trying to start anything at all. I am guessing it is a southern thing. I could be wrong. and definatly not all posts say it with sale. But I have noticed it and was just wondering.

I have been looking on Craigslist Cali since I posted this, and I can't find an example. sheesh
 
which border are you talking about. I think the car to sale thing is just people with bad grammar unless youre from mexico

Our local school made one of my daughters take speech therapy for about 3 years because they said she didn't say her "R" sound correctly. I hardly ever noticed it. I kept telling the speech person that if she was from New Hampshire it wouldn' have been a problem. Up there everybody said it that way. I grew up in Kansas & had relatives from Montana tell us we had a southern accent.

You know the difference between a northern girl & a southern girl?

A northern girl says "You can."

A southern girl says "Y'all can."

Kansans speak with a "twang". As far as spelling, grammar, and punctuation go it makes it easier to read threads instead of some that everything is run to gatherand messpelld drives me nuts wen i come across some uv this grantd some people don't have a very good command of the English language but it shouldn't deter them from trying life is a series of little goals.

Welcome to the internet, the land of poor grammar, and at times, equally poor judgment. We all have issues with the English language in different geographic locations. Go easy on pigeon-holing certain people or places as examples of poor education or incompetence.

Well I've seen these signs all my life hanging on cars, homes, etc so the sign manufacture MUST have it right. lol

The end of quality education can be tracked back to the time when a second grade teacher struggled to convince her students that the word "does" is not spelled Duz. That was what they were learning from tv , "Duz for dishes".
Today they hear "Symbicort contains Fomoterol" on tv. Now if you were a teacher today, would you try to sort that from Escort contains ford motor oil for your students or just take your pay and go home ?
You can pick up the list of 4 dollar generic drug names from Walmart but you likely wont have a clue what commercial brands these substitute.
