Just got some heads from someone he says they are 360 heads.here are the # on the head 34189156 they have a j stamp.can anyone tell me what they are and if there any good to use on my 318.Thanks .ps i paid 300 for them.Thanksssss.Don.

check out www.mymopar.com they have a bunch of casting numbers, but there should be a 360 very clearly on the head if they are 360's If they are then that's a fair price I think, maybe not the best head for the 318 though.

Drop that 6 off the end and that makes them the famous 915's which were produced in 71 and 72 on 360's. I've known some guys that say they're not good for a 318 but I've known a few guys that have used them on teen's and they worked great. Their small intake valves so they will have decent velocity the 318 needs. The only bad thing is they have larger chambers so they'll drop the compression on the already low 318 by quite a bit. So if you use them you need to swap the pistons for higher compression units or it'll never make good power. I just sold a set about 6-7 weeks ago. $300 is a good price if their ready to go or don't need much work but if they need rebuilt that's pretty high. I wish I would have gotten that much out of mine.

Thanks so far, dam thought i was doing my 318 a good thing, might as well look for a 360 now.I did measure the intake valve and its 2 inches i think that is a big valve.any outher thoughts on this?

I'm confused .. Didn't the 360 come out in 74 ?

Ok now i am thinking of getting a 360 for the dart.If i get a 360 are the heads that come with the motor going to be as good as the 915 that i have now.the deal with the heads i just got i installed carpet for them,so i could take them back and get the 300 cash and just start looking for a 360 with heads all ready on it.I guess i should got advice from here befor making this deal.:angry7:seams like i am always making bad desishions anymore.

Unless the valves have been changed they are 1.88's. That's only .14" less than 2.02's so unless you use a caliper or mic to measure them you could be off that much. But they could very well have been changed. From what I've heard the 915's do flow a little better than the all the other LA heads but there's not much diff. The ones I just sold went to BJR racing and he flowed them just like I sent them and they actually flowed the exact same as my X heads did when stock. And the J heads were small valves and the X heads were big valves. Do those heads need rebuilt? If so I'd say get your money back. If not you got a good deal. 318's are great little engines but the 360 will perform much better on the street due to a bunch more torque so if I were building one for performance that's what I'd do. Both the 318 and the 360 are very low compression stock so either will need new pistons to get the compression up to make good power just so you know.

Thanks fishy thease heads have been rebuilt all new valves.I used a tape mesure and the intake valve is 2 inches.

I'd say keep them, and have them inspected when you want to use them. 2" or larger is 2.02 valve.

I say if ya can, ditch the 318. You will be so much happier with the 360. Ofcourse there are a few little thing to drop it in if you don't mind that, motor mounts, balance on converter. little stuff, but worth the work for the power
