I don't know why 'n hell anybody would remove the dimmer switch. I also don't understand, unless the wiring has been further hacked, why the hi indicator would be lit
Headlight wiring is pretty basic, but you might consider installing relays and if not, halogen lamps

Crackedback on here has a relay kit
The original circuit brought power off the headlight switch, and fed down to the dimmer. One of the two remaining terminals of the dimmer would be "hot" and switch when you tromp on the switch. The hi beam wire branches off and feeds up to the dash
The hi and low power wires come off the dimmer, go through the bulkhead, and feed the lamps
