heater hose hook up

Here is two pictures I borrowed from toolmanmikes car and one from oldschoolcuda. Hope you guys are ok with that. Both motors and engine compartments look great and thats why I have used both these picture when putting my engine compartment back together.

Without even thinking I hooked up my hoses like oldschoolcudas car. Then noticed toolmanmikes was done differently. Is there a right or wrong way to hook up the hoses? Is the valves in the heater core designed to have the water flowing a specific direction?

Many vehicles use 2 different size hoses, like 1/2 and 5/8 or 58 and 3/4 so they dont fit but one way. Otherwise...
For a general rule of thumb, Dont cross the hoses like X. Engine port farest right to firewall port farest right.
 
You're ok. I think both of ours are the same. I didn't cross mine because it looks smoother if you don't. I think the correct original way is to cross them. Here's an original photo of a 66 D Dart. These are crossed but I have seen them both ways. tmm
