I have the same set up on my Valiant. once its on the car its even harder to see it.
do you have an adapter on the dist to run a newer style bolt on cap? looks pretty slick.

It does look like a nice set up Joe. The heat back there and oil sender clearance might be factors. Don't know. I know a lot of electronics are built with solder paste that mobilizes at as low s 140 degrees. Thats why OEM puts these gadgets in cool spots.
Just looking at the pics you shared,,, outer vertical surface of their mounting plate, to seriate it like VVVVVVV would nearly triple the surface area so it works more like a heat sink in efficiency.

talked to quite a few guys using it and they haven't had any issues. the hei dist in it now has the module under the cap but pretty much in the same location as do the gm cars that use that set up.

the oil sender will just hide it better too..

Those modules were designed to run inside the distributor and even use the distributor housing as a heat sink so it'll be fine on the outside of it.

I think Joe got that cap adapter from me. I bought a couple from RobbMc when he had them.
