Help with converting b body 8 3/4 to A body 8 3/4 for my 1964 plymouth Valiant

Hello guys

Thanks for all the help you have been giving me on my build

So i ordered the doctor diff axles which are for a 52 5/8s flange to flange

My question is. All the info i can find is that the 66 and up a body is 52 5/8s flange to flange. Does this apply for my 64 or does it need to be smaller ?

The machine shop is saying that this is the spec for 62 and up. A body 8 3/4 see foto attached

Does this mean i should return the 52 5/8s axles and get 51.4 axles ?

Same size.
A body 8 3/4 rears weren't available before '66, so you will not find them listed for '65 and earlier.
But, the same dimensions apply for your car as the '66 and later cars.

That number is incorrect. The 52 5/8 is the correct number

Awesome ! Thats what my thinking was. Machine shop is waiting on me to confirm correct size with the 52 5/8 axles I left with the housing.

Hello sir, what is the going rate for what you are doing? I am in the same scenario as you with the B body housing.

Im in Los Angeles. and it cost me $1700, That included modifying 8 3/4 to A body spec with new billet ends and rebuilding the third member with the rebuild kit, posi and 3:73 gears. That price included the rebuild kit for third member also.

thanks for that info. I’m in the process of finding a shop who can narrow only. A body housing are hard to find.

They arent hard to find, they are hard to find for a reasonable price ! lol
