herbs to reduce inflammation

-
Your welcome Kim. I post them in hopes they help someone that prefers non-medicine ways of trying to deal with issues. Not saying it's the only way, but passing on info and reader can decide for themselves.

Drop your carbohydrate intake to less than 20g a day and the inflammation reduction is insane. The wife has an autoimmune disease and the $90k a year medication did virtually nothing compared to just dropping carbs from our diet.

Thank-you Jim! Nothing like a real world experience to help others along the way. Now, if I could stop eating cookies and pizza...

Didn't say it was easy; but now I feel like crap if I eat cookies or pizza, my blood sugar spikes and I feel miserable. Getting a continuous glucose monitor to see what foods do and don't effect you is mandatory in the beginning to see what you should not eat (not everyone reacts to the same food the same way) ;)

Back to the original point of the post is the other thing that is obvious is how much better I am thinking now. I retired 3 years ago partly because I was struggling functioning in the work place. I could not stay up with what was going on in meetings and I struggled with focus. After a few months of low carb it was clear how much better I was thinking. I learned a new programming language and developed a microcontroller based circuit card for another hobby. A year or two ago I would have never thought that was possible. I have a high rate of dementia in my family so anything that I can do to make the brain healthy I need to do and my experience is there is a clear link between inflammation and mental function.

Lack of proper and sufficient nutrients, in a person's diet, together with lack of exercise, is, IMHO, responsible for the bulk of people's ailments; and it's not all our own fault. The supposedly healthy foods that we buy in the store, ain't all that healthy anymore. and; The supplements we buy, need a host of other nutrients, to work properly.
The really big trick is getting away from sugar; it's everywhere!

Amen. Exactly

So the takeaway from both of the articles in the original post is to eat healthy, sleep correctly, and exercise. So that's not new news. The bad part is that today, like stated previously, most of the stuff you buy in the store is NOT what it appears to be. 95% of the things for sale in the supermarket is absolute garbage. From the genetically engineered broccoli, tomatoes and grapes, to the bio-engineered fish and chicken, to the heavily pesticided strawberries. The cereals, breads, and yogurts... I won't even start to explain how bad those are... If you open a bag of bread and it smells like chemicals... Well that's a sure sign that you're not eating what you think it is...
The article also talked about environmental toxins.. Well those are all around us and there's not much you can do about that unless you move to a cave in the mountains. All this stuff is bad for humans: the town water coming out of your faucet (my town water was found to be toxic and was reported in the local newspapers), nearby overhead powerlines (cause cancer), the cellphone in your hand (prolonged exposure will cause cognitive problems and in some cases cancer), the outdoor air if you live in/near a big town or city, the dirt in the ground, your house pipes (whether plastic or metal), the clothes you wear (if not natural cotton or wool), the carpet you walk on, the pillow you sleep on, the deoderant and shampoo you use... It's all affecting our bodies in NEGATIVE ways... A good way to measure how bad something is for your body is to read how greatly the seller of the product is saying it's safe.. The more they say it's safe, the more you need to run away from it..

I'm 55 years old and eat pretty much healthy, exercise often, and try to sleep good. I've had all these ailments below, and have found that ALL of them can be cured by adjusting the diet and other external interactions: grinding teeth, clenching fists, brain fog, tiredness, lethargy, loss of interest, sadness, no energy, irritable, forgetful, creaky bones, aches and pains, indigestion, diarreah, cramps, dizziness, etc.. They can all be fixed, not by pharmeceuticals, but by adjusting your diet of HEALTHY foods, and also exercising and sleeping well. I don't believe in pharmaceuticals because most of them are a scam to make $$ (but that's a whole other thread).

I lost 30 lbs this year by cutting back on carbs and sugar, lifting weights and simply walking. No more sore joints and my sleep has greatly improved. Easy? Nope, but well worth it

Edit: Also dropped the statin for cholesterol and dropped my dosage for blood pressure meds

Wife has dropped 100lb and I dropped 25lb myself without really trying.
