I've owned my '65 Formula S Barracuda since 1999. Not too many Mopars here in Ottawa or A-bodies.

Mostly I've been involved with the Early Valiant/Barracuda Club mailing list but now I'm branching out. My friend just bought a '73 Dart Sport for cheap so I'm helping him find parts and fix it up, sort of a learning project.

My California raised Barracuda is a good daily driver that is clean enough to be restored into a show car one day, but it's missing the Commando motor. It's got a plain 273, but I have a 340 to put in it one day because I don't care to keep it all original. I'm still looking for a nice small bolt 8 3/4" rear then I'll sell the 7 1/4" suregrip unit that I know a lot of people would like to get from me!

My '65 Barracuda S is here

Anyhow, thanks for the great site.
Neil

Welcome aboard. That's a nice looking fish you have there. You'll find a wealth of information, and a host of good guys and gals here to share that information with you. :)

Thanks! Nice Canadian Valiant you got there. I notice you used oven cleaner on the engine, to degrease it I guess? Does it strip the paint? This Dart we're working on is completely covered with Krown or something and you have scrape it with a bondo knife or something, then you're left with an oily mess. Some areas you can't get to with the knife so it's just this thick sticky, gooey sludge! It saved the car though, otherwise it would have been a pile of rust!

Welcome, and nice wheels. Your not the only one with a 273 :munky2:

Thanks 65s. The oven cleaner helps remove the baked on oil and sludge but it hasn't removed any paint. On the bright side, I can now bake cookies on my intake. :toothy7:

Welcome aboard 65s.
Oh,...um....we don't allow liberal supporters here.....except 69signetv8.
Just kidding............about signet.

What a nice welcome! Maybe I'll stick around for a while....

My 273 is okay but under powered. I lucked into a 1970 340 with a spun bearing that's never been rebuilt (sitting under a guys workbench for the last 10 years or more) for $600 last winter. It was only about 1.5 hours away. It's got the large valve J heads too! Someday I hope to have it rebuilt but until then I'm in a constant state of trying to get more from my 273. This winter I hope to remove the mismatched 340 intake and install a genuine commando intake, that should help things out!
