I have something I would like to run by you if you don't mind.
Surely others have the same question, so I thought I would ask here instead of a PM.
I have stock 318 (no oppologies necessary
) with edelbrock dual plane and a 1406-600.
A999 with stock converter.
1 5/8 long tubes with 3" collectors into flowmaster 40's into 2.5 inch X'd pipes.
Full HEI with 8mm Accel wires and NGK plugs.
(don't know the rear gears because I never really cared) but run 15 inch 70's.
It runs near perfect every day and has been reliable as a rock for over two years now.
I run it on the freeway quite a bit and 2800 RPM gives about 75 mph.
I would like to put some milled 360 heads on it a little later and a cam that sounds nice, but need to keep it freeway and fuel economy friendly, because I drive it every day for service calls.
I run 91 in it because I get better mileage so it's a wash on dollars vs miles covered.
It's not a racer by any means obviously and never will be, but if I can I would like it to sound nice (not totally stock) and still do well out on the open road.
Would there be a cam style that you could give a general recommendation for this?
Would a cam and a higher stall together do this without destroying the freeway driving?
When it comes to cams and stall speed matching I don't know s**t.
That said, I know I want to stay with hydraulics.
I already have a double roller and brand new MP hyd lifters and cam set, but I know it's too radical for what I want. (497 lift with 75 overlap and 288 duration, 108 cl)
Thank you.
